Title

The impact of protected area establishment on habitat selection by African lions (Panthera leo) in northern Tanzania.

 

Objectives

The main objective of this study is to assess habitat selection by African lions across protected areas in northern Tanzania, using a unique long-term VHF data set and an intermittent shorter GPS data set. 

 

Using analytical skills gained through MSc courses, this project will evaluate the spatial variation of lion usage of protected areas to inform human-wildlife conflict mitigation tools from fine-scale analysis of the Tarangire-Manyara ecosystem.
